John “Jay” Mitchell

Manager, Capacity Building

Jay Mitchell is a Capacity Building Manager who supports capacity-building initiatives throughout the global family of affiliates at Prison Fellowship International. He brings us 15 years’ experience working with nonprofits and government agencies. Jay specializes in project management and provides capacity building support to National Ministries. He values building cross-cultural relationships and works diligently to mentor and coach his international counterparts to help them achieve their goals.

Between 2019 and 2022, Jay received three service awards from the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) while helping the Government of Ghana provide more reliable and affordable electricity to Ghana’s businesses and households. Prior to his work at MCC, he worked with the Henry M. Jackson Foundation and traveled to Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda to deliver capacity building workshops tailored to the needs and interests of his local counterparts.

Jay holds a B.A. in French from the University of Virginia, where he spent a semester abroad studying at the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Lyon, and completed graduate coursework at Georgetown University.
