Dorestela Medina

Senior Regional Director, Latin America and the Caribbean

Dorestela Medina is the Regional Director, who supports and oversees the national ministries in Latin America and the Caribbean. She brings us 30 years´ experience working in government, embassies, the United Nations, and NGOs (Oxfam GB, Save The Children Sweden, Care International, and SICA). Dorestela specializes in the areas of organizational development, mentoring, strategic management, coaching, and provides support and program management services to national ministries. Dorestela knows very well the Latin America region, its culture, the social, economic, and political context, and prison conditions, and works diligently to coach national ministries to improve and build capacity to achieve goals, mission, and vision.

Dorestela has experience managing up to 200 staff from different areas. She established and put in action an information system that flows and enables strategic planning, control, and reporting. She has secured immigration policies and country’s agreements and external relationships with other governments. She has gained support on achieving the goals of social and community action programs, especially taking children out of labor by providing some type of economic support to their parents. Dorestela has also worked on administrative and human resources issues, organizing and delivering training, seminars, workshops, and forums.

Dorestela holds a Master’s of Business Coaching (MBC) from University and is a Certified Coach International of International Coaching Community (ICC No.13746), holds a postgraduate, Human Rights and Penitentiary science, Assertive Communication and Diplomado on Restorative Justice, and Bachelor of Education Science/History.
